SCHEME TO SUPPORT TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER

The state government launched a new scheme “Support for Technology Transfer” from the financial year 2024-25. Technology transfer is generally seen as the codification and dissemination of knowledge, aimed at empowering farmers to make informed decisions. It is the process of transferring (disseminating) technology to farmers, farmer groups, or organizations, with the goal of converting scientific results into new products and services that benefit the entire agricultural community. The Agriculture Department is committed to promoting the state’s farmers’ economy by increasing production and productivity. This requires providing farmers with all types of technical and up-to-date information about crops, as well as timely advice during different crop stages.

The department is already providing various services to improve service delivery through both online and offline initiatives. To bridge the existing gap in technology adoption and effectively raise awareness among farmers, this scheme includes farmer training camps, workshops, seminars, capacity-building programs, exposure visits, and ICT-based activities. Through these technology transfer activities, all information and achievements related to state and centrally sponsored schemes will be conveyed to farmers.

To implement the scheme effectively and enhance the efficiency of extension workers, provisions for exposure visits have also been included. For the financial year 2024-25, a budget provision of ₹151.00 lakh was made, of which ₹137.00 lakh was spent. For the financial year 2025-26, a budget of ₹3.00 crore has been allocated, of which ₹2.50 crore has been re-appropriated from the Him Krishi Scheme for this scheme.
