Unirrigated 7 20 5

* These elements can also be added by other fertilizers which are available in the market.
**Under irrigated areas when 130 kg DAP is used then 50 kg less Urea per hectare should be given. Similarly, in non-irrigated areas, when 85 kg DAP is used then only 30 kg urea or 60 kg per hectare lesser farmyard manure should be given.
Note: 1. If wheat is sown in rainfed areas after December 20, then cow dung manure at the rate of 15 tonnes/hectare should be spread on the land surface immediately after sowing. Do not mix cowdung manure in the soil. 2. If the farmers have the capacity to give more fertilizer, then in the maize-wheat/ paddy-wheat cropping system, give 50 percent more quantity of fertilizers to the wheat crop in irrigated areas
and also add 10-12 tonnes of local manure/hectare, so that wheat yield of 50 quintals/hectare can be achieved continuously.

1. Time and Method of Fertilizing:
(i) In irrigated conditions, the full dose of Phosphorus and Potash and half dose of Nitrogen should be applied in the field at the time of sowing by pour method. The remaining half dose of Nitrogen should be applied at the crown root initiation stage of the plant. To supplement Nitrogen, Urea should be used which should be used after irrigation or rain in the field.

(ii) In non-irrigated or rainfed areas, the first dose of Nitrogen should be applied by pour method at the time of sowing and the remaining half dose should be given after the first rain.

(iii) The quantity of fertilizers has been recommended only on the basis of general fertility of the land. To ensure the higher yield of crop, fertilizer should be applied on the basis of soil testing so that accurate/ correct quantity of fertilizer may be applied. If cow dung manure has been applied in wheat crop, then apply the quantity of fertilizers as per requirement.

(iv) If the land is Acidic then mix one ton of Lime per hectare in the soil 20 days before sowing, but the soil should be tested for the requirement of lime and its use is sufficient for 2-3 years. Adopt fixed yield system for wheat crop.

(v) Zinc deficiency usually occurs in sandy soils. Therefore, apply Zinc Sulphate at the rate of 25 Kg/Ha 15 days before sowing in Zinc deficient land.
